Advent 2023 – Remembered

This past advent season was very special to me.  I was working on our new and much improved website and had just finished moving into my new home.  As you can imagine, finding a new Church was also extremely important and I had spent a lot of time on the web searching and visiting Churches in the area for Sunday services to make a choice.  There were several things (not coincidences) that happened along the way and the decision became apparent and was made for me.  I started attending regularly and taking steps to become a member at my new church.  The pastor’s advent services were lessons on the aspects of preparation and the everlasting Hope – Peace – Joy – Love that we receive from Jesus as we wait and prepare well for his coming.

The lessons included devotionals, scripture readings from the ‘revised common lectionary’ along with hymns and worship songs and practical things to do to stay focused on Jesus ‘coming.

The Advent candles also reminds us of Jesus as the Light of the world. Let Jesus shine his light on your life, every part, the good, the bad, and the ugly. You don’t have to live in the dark alone anymore, don’t stumble around on your own. Invite Jesus into your heart and He will give you an everlasting Hope, Peace, Joy, and Love not just fleeting emotions of happiness and wishfull thinking that are here one moment and gone the next.
